Jason for You

AI and technology consulting

If you can dream it, I can get you there. If you can’t dream it, I’ll dream it for you.

You run the business. I help you work out what is worth building, then help build it.

The first conversation is free, takes about 30 minutes, and there’s nothing to prepare.

Who it’s for

For owners who are close to the work

I work with independent, owner-led businesses, where the person who decides is also the person who knows how a normal week actually runs. Size and industry matter less than that. You don’t need to know anything about AI, and you don’t need a plan. There are two ways in, and both are fine.

“I know what I want, but I can’t build it.”

A tool your team keeps asking for, a better way to take orders, a new line of business. I’ll help you test the idea before you spend real money on it, then help build the version that’s worth having.

“I know this could work better, but I don’t know what the answer is.”

I’ll learn how the business actually runs, find where time and money leak out, and tell you what is worth fixing first. Sometimes the answer isn’t software, and I’ll say so.

Sound familiar?

  • We do the same thing by hand every week.

Retyping between systems, rebuilding the same report, chasing the same follow-ups.

  • It’s in there somewhere.

Knowledge spread across email, spreadsheets, shared drives and one person’s head.

  • Customers fall through the cracks.

Inquiries, quotes and follow-ups with no reliable system behind them.

  • I don’t know what I’m paying for.

Software that piled up over the years, and vendors pitching more of it.

  • I have an idea for a new tool or service.

Something worth testing before anyone builds the whole thing.

  • Everyone says we should use AI.

Pressure without a problem. A short look finds where it helps and where it doesn’t.

How it works

One step at a time, and you can stop after any of them

Each paid step has a written scope and a fixed fee, agreed before it starts. Every step ends with something useful in your hands, and what happens next is your decision.

  1. A first conversation

    Free · about 30 minutes

Tell me how a normal week runs and where it drags, or what you would build if you could. You learn how I work, and I learn whether I can help. It’s a conversation, not an audit.

Then you decide whether an assessment is worth it.

  2. Opportunity assessment

Fixed fee · about 2 to 3 weeks

A working session with you, a read-only look at your tools and paperwork, then a short written summary: what the problem costs today, two to four options (including leaving it alone, when that’s right), and what I would do first.

Then you decide whether anything is worth building.

  3. Prototype

Fixed fee · about 4 to 9 weeks

Something you can click through that tests one idea, built with sample data and labeled as a prototype. Before I start, we agree in writing what it has to show.

Then you decide whether it’s worth building properly.

  4. Build and hand over

    Fixed fee per milestone

I build, test and document the agreed solution in accounts you own, then walk you through it. For 30 days after handover, I fix anything that doesn’t do what we agreed.

    You own it, documentation included.

Builds come after an assessment or a prototype, so a fixed fee always rests on a clear scope. Durations are estimates in calendar weeks.

What I’ve built

I built my own studio with AI tools before offering to help with yours

Everything here was built by me with AI tools, through my studio, Orca Solutions. I decided what to build, directed the work and tested the results. That’s how I know what these tools can do for a small team, and where they still need judgment and care.

None of it is client work. These are my own projects, so you can see how I think before you spend anything. Each entry says where it stands and what it still lacks, and you can open, run or read most of it yourself.

Personal Treasury

The spreadsheet that ran everything

What it shows an owner

Plenty of businesses run on a spreadsheet that has quietly become the operating system. I turned my household’s into an app without losing its history. The workbook imports with a preview and control totals, every figure links back to the entries behind it, edits are recorded and can be undone, and the data still exports to Excel, so nobody is locked in.

Where it stands

Public preview

Built for my own household, not a business. Version 0.3.0-preview.2 for Apple Silicon Macs; the download is unsigned, so macOS asks you to approve it. Independent security review is still outstanding. No user numbers.

GetFit, then bellos

When the app you depend on loses your records

What it shows an owner

A subscription app kept losing my logged workouts, so I built a replacement that saves every entry on the device straight away, works offline and keeps the data portable. Then I took that proven core and built a product for other people around it, with accounts, a waitlist, a privacy policy and terms. It’s the path from fixing your own problem to offering the fix to others.

Where it stands

Live · private beta

GetFit is live for a single user and source-available (FSL-1.1-MIT). bellos is an invite-only beta, free during the beta, and runs as a web app you install from the browser, not a native app. No user or revenue numbers.

StatBatt and iYosi

Knowing when to stop

What it shows an owner

A good assessment sometimes ends with “don’t build this,” and I hold my own projects to that. StatBatt, a Mac battery app, worked; then the app it was meant to replace got an update, and mine no longer added anything new. iYosi, a Metro Manila guide to designated smoking areas, reached working iOS and Android prototypes and a tested API, and stopped when I couldn’t see a viable business around it.

Where it stands

Stopped on purpose

Both ended with a written record of why. StatBatt’s charging controls were verified on one Mac. iYosi’s iOS app was tested in a simulator against made-up data, and nothing was released.

There’s more, mostly for developers: StreamOtter, a toolkit that carries live data to the browser (a release candidate on npm), and Garnet Guard, a checker for Python dependency updates (pre-alpha). The full portfolio is at my studio, Orca Solutions, and on my own site.

About

You’ll be working with me

I’m Jason Fricano. I’m trained as a lawyer, I build software, and I’m the person you’ll actually work with. There’s no account manager, and no handing you off to a team you never meet.

The part I’m best at is the personal part: understanding how your business really runs, seeing possibilities you may not have had time to look for, and then helping make one of them real.

I do this alongside another full-time job, so I take on a small number of projects at a time and tell you plainly what I can and can’t commit to.

Jason for You is technology and business consulting. It doesn’t provide legal advice, and working with me doesn’t make me your lawyer.

Questions

Straight answers

Do I need to know anything about AI?
No. We start with your business, not the technology. AI is one tool among several, and plenty of good answers are ordinary software, better use of something you already pay for, or a change to how work moves through the business.
What does it cost?
Every step after the first conversation has a fixed fee, agreed in writing before any work starts, so you know the number up front. Software, hosting and AI services go on your own accounts, so you see those costs directly.
Can I see work you’ve done for clients?
Not yet. Everything on this page is my own work, built for myself, and each entry says how far along it is. Jason for You is new, and the first client engagements are what I’m looking for now.
How available are you?
I reply within two business days and meet at times we agree in advance. I don’t do on-call, emergency or same-day work. If a timeline slips, you hear from me promptly with a new date, and a fixed fee never goes up because of my delay.
What happens to my data?
It stays yours. I work in accounts you own, ask only for what the work needs, and use sample data until real data is necessary and you’ve agreed to it. I use AI tools in my work, and I’ll tell you which ones touch your information before they do. When we finish, I return or delete what you gave me.
What if you’re unavailable later?
What I build lives in accounts you own and comes with documentation written as the work happens, plus a proper handover, so someone else can pick it up. You shouldn’t need me to keep it running.
Do you give legal advice?
No. This is technology and business consulting. If a legal question comes up, I’ll tell you it’s one for your own lawyer.
Is the name a joke?
It’s a nod to a show I like. The work is real: a scope, a price, a deliverable, and me on the other end of the email.
